Goodluck Jonathan urges peaceful acceptance of Ghana’s election results
Former Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan has called on candidates in Ghana’s December 7 general elections to prioritize peace and democracy by accepting the election outcomes.
As the head of the ECOWAS mission and the West African Elders Forum, Jonathan is leading efforts to promote a credible and peaceful electoral process.
The forum, composed of former West African leaders, focuses on mitigating conflicts during elections.
During a meeting with Ghana’s National Election Security Taskforce on December 5, Jonathan stressed the need for a transparent election that upholds Ghana’s status as a democratic leader in the region.
Jonathan urged political stakeholders to approach the elections with the understanding that only one candidate can emerge victorious and emphasized the importance of respecting the democratic process to maintain peace.
