Mr. Alan John Kwadwo Kyerematen, the presidential candidate for the Movement for Change party, has unveiled his comprehensive plans to empower digital content creators, influencers, bloggers, and vloggers in Ghana.
Mr. Kyerematen articulated his commitment to fostering growth in the creative industry and expanding opportunities in the digital space should he be elected president.
One of his key initiatives is the establishment of a Creative Arts Development Fund to support young artists, filmmakers, musicians, and digital creators. He underscored the wide-ranging nature of the creative sector, which encompasses music, dance, film, theater, and the visual arts, and stressed that these areas require substantial financial support to flourish.
Addressing challenges in the digital domain, he promised to launch training programs and provide global market exposure to help digital creators broaden their audience and maximise their earnings.
“Many talented bloggers and influencers in Ghana are not fully monetising their work. With the right support, they can achieve remarkable success on the international stage,” he stated.
To further strengthen the industry, Mr. Kyerematen vowed to:
- Enact and enforce legislation to safeguard intellectual property rights.
- Introduce tax rebates and incentives to alleviate the high costs of internet access, particularly for the youth.
- Create business process outsourcing (BPO) centers modeled after successful examples in India and Jamaica to generate thousands of new jobs.
In a significant and forward-thinking move, he also pledged to provide free satellite internet connectivity at 100,000 strategic locations across Ghana.
“This is a transformative step that will unlock new opportunities for young people in the digital space,” he noted.
Mr. Kyerematen highlighted his extensive background in the tech sector, citing his role in developing products such as the Trade Africa Online app. He reassured young people that his initiatives are based on practical, effective solutions designed to tackle their challenges and create sustainable growth in the digital and creative sectors.
The AFRAFRANTO Youth Dialogue served as a vital platform for Mr. Kyerematen to engage with young audiences and present his vision for a digital and creative renaissance in Ghana.
