Electoral Commission highlights media’s key role in 2024 elections
The Electoral Commission of Ghana has underscored the critical role of media collaboration in the upcoming 2024 parliamentary and presidential elections.
In an interview on Thursday, November 28, 2024, Dr. Bossman Asare highlighted the essential contribution of the media in fostering transparency and fairness in the electoral process.
“The media’s role in reporting and keeping the public informed about developments in all coalitions is crucial,” he said.
Dr. Asare also noted that the Commission has been engaging with media stakeholders to facilitate a seamless and transparent electoral process.
To prepare for the elections, the Electoral Commission has established an organizational structure comprising the Head Office, Regional Offices, and District Offices, each with specialized departments for efficient electoral management.
The Commission also stressed the significance of coalition centres, where vote results from various polling stations are collected and announced, emphasizing that the media will be vital in reporting from these centres.
“With the elections fast approaching, the Electoral Commission is dedicated to ensuring a free, fair, and transparent process, with media collaboration being a pivotal part of this effort.”
