CASLOC demand locked funds, issue government ultimatum

CASLOC

The Coalition of Affected Savings and Loans Customers (CASLOC) has issued a one-week ultimatum to the government, calling for the release of their locked-up funds.

The coalition comprises depositors from 23 collapsed savings and loan firms, 347 microfinance institutions, and 39 microcredit companies, with over 500,000 members still awaiting reimbursement.

At a press conference in Kumasi on November 25, CASLOC revealed that while more than 2 million depositors were compensated between 2019 and 2020, payments abruptly ceased following the 2020 elections.

The group accused the government of misleading the public by claiming that all affected customers had been paid.

The coalition has warned of mobilizing members and communities to vote against the New Patriotic Party if their demands are not met.

CASLOC Secretary Ezekiel Annor Akagbo highlighted the unresolved financial distress of many depositors and urged the government to act swiftly.

This ultimatum underscores the lingering tensions around the financial sector cleanup, with calls for justice and transparency in addressing the crisis.
