President Akuffo-Addo Commissions Oil and Gas Terminal at Takoradi Port

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has commissioned a new oil and gas terminal at the Takoradi Port in the Western Region, marking a significant milestone in Ghana’s economic development.

The ceremony was attended by dignitaries, including the Western Regional Minister, Hon. Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah, and the Minister of Transport, Hon. Kwaku Ofori Asiamah.

President Akufo-Addo emphasized that the completion of the oil and gas services terminal represents a major achievement in Ghana’s quest to become a leading player in the industry.

The terminal features a 550-meter quay wall, a 10-meter deep draft, and 200,000 square meters of serviced land area for oilfield operators, logistics service providers, and other stakeholders.

The President expressed his gratitude to the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA) and other stakeholders for their support in bringing the project to fruition.

The Minister of Transport, Hon. Kwaku Ofori Asiamah, commended the President for his commitment to developing Ghana’s port infrastructure.

The oil and gas terminal is expected to generate employment opportunities, facilitate the transfer of advanced technology, and support local industry.

Mr. Michael Luguje, Director-General of GPHA, noted that the completion of the terminal marks a significant milestone in the development of the Port of Takoradi, which has become a major hub for oil and gas operations in the region.

After the president’s keynote address, Mr. Peter Amoo—Bediako, the Director of Port, Takoradi, gave his vote of thanks, and they moved on to the site drawing briefing, the cutting of the ribbon, and the unveiling of the plaque departure.
