George Twum Barima Adu unveils E-Sika plan to replace E-Levy and empower Ghanaians financially
Independent presidential candidate George Twum Barima Adu has unveiled plans to abolish the Electronic Levy (E-Levy) and replace it with a new initiative called E-Sika.
During a press encounter on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, Twum Barima introduced his flagship policy, “Common Prosperity for All,” which aims to empower Ghanaians financially. The policy is inspired by global efforts to reduce income inequality and foster economic growth.
Under the E-Sika scheme, a portion of citizens’ electronic payments will be saved, promoting financial growth. E-Sika accounts will be linked to the Ghana Card and divided into three sections: pension, housing, and welfare.
“Every time you make an electronic payment, a deduction will be made. So, you spend, and you save. For example, if you spend 50 cedis, a percentage will be directed into your savings account,” Twum Barima explained.
