Apremdo Chief urges government to prioritize Abenbebom market development
In a powerful and thought-provoking address during the Parliamentary debate in Kwesimintsim, organized by the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), Nana Egya Kwamina XI, the Chief of Apremdo Traditional Area, spoke candidly on a number of critical issues facing his community.
The Chief not only underscored the urgent need for greater government attention to certain local infrastructure but also called for a shift in the mindset of the country’s youth toward more sustainable and community-centred development.
He emphasized the need for government investment in the Abenbebom central market rather than satellite markets that offer little benefit to the community.
Chief Kwamina XI stressed that the Abenbebom market has the potential to uplift the local economy, particularly for market women, if given proper attention. He also cautioned the youth against relying solely on political parties, instead encouraging them to focus on the country’s well-being.
Sharing his observations from visits to other countries, the chief noted the impressive road infrastructure and urged Ghana’s youth to demand better for their future. He highlighted Effia constituency’s lack of a hospital as a pressing concern.
Chief Kwamina XI stressed that it was not the responsibility of politicians alone to drive the country forward, but the shared duty of all citizens, especially the youth, to demand better governance, improved living standards, and economic opportunities.
While commending the government’s efforts in improving education, Chief Kwamina XI restated that the Abenbebom market’s development remains a major priority. He appealed to the authorities to upgrade or revive the market for the community’s benefit.
