Govt to Commission over 80 educational infrastructure projects across Ghana
On Thursday, November 21, 2024, the government will officially commission over 80 educational projects nationwide, spanning all 16 regions. This initiative aims to improve access to quality education by introducing modern facilities designed to meet the needs of students at various educational levels.
A statement from the Ministry of Education indicates that President Nana Akufo-Addo will spearhead the event, with simultaneous ceremonies held across multiple districts and regions.
Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and Education Minister Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum will also participate, with the events being broadcast live on television and social media platforms for broader public engagement.
These projects include the construction of STEM-focused schools, E-blocks, and facilities for early childhood education, such as kindergartens and basic schools.
Notable projects include the Kpasenkpe Model STEM SHS in the West Mamprusi District, the Accra STEM Academy, and the Awaso Model STEM SHS. Additionally, the Ashanti Region will see upgrades like the Bosomtwe Model STEM JHS and the Wesley Girls Demonstration School.
Regions such as the Northern Region will benefit from the expansion of the Sagnarigu Tamale Business School, while the Volta Region will gain improved facilities at Kodzobi Ando Basic School.
The initiative also prioritizes Technical and Vocational Education (TVET), with projects like the Anyinam and Akomadan TVET schools designed to equip students with practical job skills.
The Ministry of Education encourages public participation in this milestone event through live broadcasts or by attending the commissioning at designated sites.
