Ogyeahoho Gyebi II urges chiefs to foster peace ahead of the December elections

Ogyeahoho Yaw Gyebi II, President of the National House of Chiefs, has called on chiefs throughout Ghana to foster peace as the December 7 elections approach.

He urged them to act responsibly to uphold the integrity and reputation of the chieftaincy during this crucial period. With just 36 days remaining until Ghanaians cast their votes for presidential and parliamentary candidates, calls for a peaceful electoral process are growing from influential leaders.

In his farewell address during a meeting in Kumasi on November 1, Ogyeahoho Yaw Gyebi II emphasized the vital role of chiefs as peace ambassadors, encouraging collaboration for a smooth and harmonious election.

“With only a few days left until the elections, let us continue to advocate for fair, peaceful, and transparent processes,” he stated.

He also reminded the chiefs to uphold their dignity, reinforcing public respect for the chieftaincy. “Despite challenges, the reputation of the chieftaincy has improved, and its public standing is rising,” he noted.

“We must continue to work diligently to protect the image and esteem of our institution. Our individual and collective actions should enhance our reputation; we must avoid anything that could tarnish it.”
