NDC questions EC’s choice of YASARKO for election material printing
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has raised concerns about the Electoral Commission’s (EC) decision to select YASARKO to print materials for the upcoming elections, citing multiple issues with the company’s performance.
The NDC’s Eagle Eyes initiative, designed to closely monitor the ballot printing process, has faced obstacles due to what the party claims is YASARKO’s inconsistent delivery on its commitments.
In a recent post, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, NDC’s Director of Elections and IT, criticized the EC’s vetting process for the contractor, suggesting YASARKO’s repeated delays and “excuses” cast doubt on the company’s competence and the fairness of the contract award.
The NDC also reported suspicions among its monitoring agents that YASARKO may have considered printing ballots offsite, raising concerns over the security of electoral materials.
Additionally, the party claimed that instances of excess ballot printing have been detected, prompting a formal agreement with the printing companies to maintain strict accountability and dispose of any surplus ballots responsibly.
