Spice FM champions women’s health with free breast screening

In a commendable initiative aimed at promoting women’s health, Spice 91.9 FM, a reputable organisation has successfully organized a free breast screening exercise on Thursday, October 24, 2024, drawing over 200 participants.

The event, held at Assakae Market, was part of a broader campaign to raise awareness about breast cancer and encourage early detection.

Medical professionals from the Bethel Methodist Medical Center collaborated to provide free screenings, educational resources, and support services for attendees.

The medical team for the screening was coordinated by Dr. Augustine Ackon, a Medical Doctor from the Bethel Methodist Medical Center.

The exercise attracted beneficiaries from nearby towns such as Whindo, Kwesimintsim, Apremdo, Race Course, Asakae etc.

Among the abnormal findings discovered during the free screening of the 213 participants, 15 women were diagnosed with pain in the breast, while 2 women each had discharge from the breast, 5 also had breast lumps, and 1 had sore in the nipple.

They were subsequently referred for further testing and treatment.

Many women expressed gratitude for the opportunity. “This is a fantastic service,” said Maria Johnson, a participant. “I never thought I’d have access to such an important screening for free. We must take care of our health, and initiatives like this make it easier.”

The free screening exercise was not only an opportunity for health checks but also a platform for community interactivity.

With sponsorship from partners, like Twellium Industries, Ultimate Car Rentals, Campaign for Female Education (CAMFED), and Henyana Haulage, the event was made possible.
