NDC commends Bagbin for exemplary leadership during parliamentary session

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has praised Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, for his effective leadership during the parliamentary session held on Tuesday, October 22.

In a statement issued by the party’s General Secretary, Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, the NDC commended Bagbin’s management of the day’s proceedings, describing it as a model of parliamentary leadership.

The party acknowledged the Speaker’s balanced and mature handling of the session, noting that his leadership reflected a strong commitment to protecting the interests of both Parliament and the nation.

The NDC highlighted Bagbin’s contribution to enhancing the credibility of the legislative body and expressed confidence in his continued efforts to uphold Parliament’s independence.

The statement came after Bagbin indefinitely adjourned parliamentary proceedings, following a contentious session marked by disputes between Members of Parliament (MPs) from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the NDC over the issue of which caucus holds the Majority.

During the adjournment, Bagbin briefly referenced a communication from the Supreme Court, which instructed him to stay his earlier ruling that declared four parliamentary seats vacant.

However, he did not provide further details on the Court’s directive, leaving some MPs and observers uncertain about the implications.

Bagbin also informed the House that while there were sufficient numbers to conduct business, they did not have the necessary quorum to make decisions.
