Christiana Quayson, spokesperson for the Ghana Union Movement (GUM), has announced plans to eliminate the double-track system in senior high school (SHS) education.
In an interview on GTV’s breakfast show, Quayson highlighted that GUM intends to partner schools with companies, enabling students to gain practical experience. “The selection will be based on individual skills, so if a school is assigned a company, students will be matched accordingly,” she explained.
Quayson emphasized that GUM’s educational approach focuses on practical knowledge and skill development.
“Through this hands-on learning, we will ensure students acquire technical skills relevant to various industries,” she noted.
To support this initiative, Quayson stated that GUM will invest in necessary infrastructure to phase out the double-track system, aiming to equip students with industry-relevant skills and experiences.
