Mahama vows to review Saglemi Housing project handover
John Dramani Mahama, flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has pledged to reassess the government’s decision to hand over the Saglemi Housing Project to Quarm-LMI without consulting the traditional landowners.
Mahama contends that the NDC administration initiated the project based on a land acquisition agreement with the Ningo-Prampram traditional authorities, emphasizing that the current government should have followed the same procedure before altering the project’s status.
After months of negotiations, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government selected private developer Quarm-LMI to complete the stalled housing project.
However, Mahama, while addressing a gathering at Prampram during his Greater Accra campaign, vowed that his next administration would address the socioeconomic concerns of the Ningo-Prampram constituency.
He emphasized that any change in the project’s status from a government to a private initiative requires consultation with the allodial landowners, the people of Ningo-Prampram.
Mahama criticized the government for proceeding without these necessary discussions, asserting that the Ningo people’s consent is essential before transferring the project to a private entity.
He promised that his administration would review any actions taken by the current government regarding the project.
