Bawumia pledges comprehensive agricultural transformation

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has announced plans to implement a transformative agricultural initiative by establishing a district mechanisation centre in every district across Ghana. This initiative, he stated, will be a key priority of his administration if elected president in the upcoming December 7 polls.

Speaking at a campaign rally in Juapong, Volta Region, Bawumia highlighted the persistent challenges faced by Ghanaian farmers and expressed his commitment to easing their burdens. He outlined plans to provide farmers with critical support and resources to enhance their operations.

Acknowledging the central role agriculture plays in Ghana’s economy and the livelihoods of millions, Bawumia underscored the importance of modernising the sector.

He emphasized the need for improved irrigation systems, especially in regions prone to drought and inconsistent rainfall, to ensure year-round crop cultivation.

Bawumia further outlined his vision to equip farmers with the necessary tools for success, including tractors, combined harvesters, and planters.

He promised to establish district mechanisation centres across the country, providing farmers with access to the equipment they need to scale up their production and improve their livelihoods.
