15 young innovators to represent Ghana at the 2024 Next Generation Digital Action competition in Denmark
Jeffrey Adu-Mante, alongside fifteen other young innovators, will represent Ghana at the prestigious 2024 Next Generation Digital Action (NGDA) competition in Copenhagen, Denmark.
The innovators, primarily students from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), will showcase their pioneering digital solutions aimed at addressing real-world challenges during the global event later this month.
The participating teams—Mfasoᴐ, LJJM, and Quad-Inno—have each developed innovative solutions targeting key issues such as water management, education accessibility, and sustainability.
These cutting-edge projects will be presented at the NGDA summit, where the Ghanaian innovators hope to make a significant impact on a global stage.
Speaking to the media, Mr. Jeffrey Adu-Mante shared insights into their journey, explaining that months of rigorous preparation had gone into refining their solutions.
“We’re not just representing ourselves but the whole of Ghana. Our innovations are rooted in solving problems that we face back home, and we believe these solutions can be scaled globally,” Adu-Mante said.
Confident in their efforts, Adu-Mante added, “We’ve spent months developing these solutions, and we’re confident that they have the potential to make a significant impact. This is a chance to show how young Ghanaian talent can contribute to solving global issues, from education and water management to sustainability and technology. We are ready, and we’re bringing our best.”
The Next Generation Digital Action is a global youth initiative that forms part of the Digital Tech Summit 2024, an event designed to spotlight youth-led solutions and actions in digital technology aimed at transforming societies.
It is the largest academic-based technology and business event in the Nordic region, drawing over 5,000 participants, including decision-makers, engineers, startups, investors, and students, all focused on digital transformation and sustainability.
Before heading to Copenhagen, the Ghanaian teams had the opportunity to test-pitch their solutions during a special meeting with the Danish Ambassador to Ghana, Mr. Tom Nørring.
This session allowed the teams to receive valuable feedback and refine their presentations ahead of the summit.
Mr. Nørring praised the young innovators for their ingenuity and highlighted the strong partnership between Denmark and Ghana in areas such as health, agriculture, and digitalisation.
During the pitch, Team Mfasoᴐ, led by Michelle Sosu, presented ‘Spaar,’ an AI-powered smart water infrastructure software designed to optimize water and sanitation systems.
Team LJJM, led by Margaret Patterson, introduced ‘Adesua Pa,’ a web application aimed at bridging educational gaps by providing up-to-date, accessible information on schools in Ghana. Calvin Opoku’s team, Quad-Inno, showcased ‘Opretholde,’ a web-based tool that automates the management of sustainability data.
Also in attendance were last year’s competition winners, the Green Crew, who demonstrated their eco-friendly family home project, ‘Abusua Fie,’ which combines sustainable building materials with modern and traditional Ghanaian living styles.
The 2024 NGDA competition provides a platform for young innovators from around the world to display their solutions, with a focus on leveraging digital technologies for sustainable development.
The Ghanaian teams are optimistic that their innovations will stand out and foster future collaborations in technology and innovation.
