Joseph Boahene Aidoo, the Chief Executive of the Ghana Cocoa Board, stated that hand pollination has become an integral part of the Board’s program.
This initiative aligns with COCOBOD’s mission to enhance the production of high-quality cocoa beans while ensuring farmers receive better returns for their harvests.
He emphasized that COCOBOD has implemented several innovative programs and significant policy changes, including new financing methods and developing an integrated farmer database and cocoa management system.
Mr. Aidoo noted that COCOBOD inherited an administration lacking a real-time database, relying instead on estimated figures. In 2019, the organization established an integrated cocoa farmer system, which he elaborated on further.
He emphasized that traceability is crucial in the cocoa sector, especially as consumers increasingly seek to know the source of their products.
He highlighted the reasons behind the COCOBOD national traceability program.
