EC releases ballot statistics for 2024 presidential and parliamentary elections
The Electoral Commission (EC) has officially unveiled the ballot statistics to guide the printing of ballots for the upcoming 2024 presidential and parliamentary elections.
This release marks a significant step as the EC ramps up preparations to ensure a smooth, transparent, and efficient electoral process ahead of the December polls.
In a statement issued on Monday, October 14, the EC outlined the meticulous process followed to finalize the figures for ballot printing, highlighting the accuracy and precision involved in deriving the statistics.
The release of these figures addresses one of the key demands of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), which had also called for a forensic audit of the 2024 voters register.
Below is the complete EC’s statement.
The Electoral Commission (EC) has announced the release of the ballot statistics to guide the printing of the Presidential and Parliamentary Elections Ballots ahead of the 2024 General Election.
The Electoral Commission hereby publishes the ballot statistics to guide the printing of the Presidential and Parliamentary election ballots ahead of the 2024 General Election.
In arriving at the ballot statistics, the Commission took into account the total number of voters on the 2024 Provisional Voters Register (PVR) plus a two percent increase.
While the Commission welcomes and encourages a total voter turnout on Election Day, it also recognizes that not every registered voter will vote in the 2024 General Election.
The Commission is confident that the methodology relied upon, that is utilizing the total number of voters on the PVR plus a two percent increase to guide the printing of ballots, is adequate and will not result in shortfalls or unnecessary wastage.
This methodology of adding a percentage increase has been used by the Commission to guide the printing of ballots since 1992.
We entreat the Public to trust us to deliver on our mandate.
