ECOWAS discusses visibility campaigns for 2050 across its member states

To enhance awareness and document key success stories related to the ECOWAS Vision 2050 initiatives, the Directorate of Strategic Planning, Monitoring, and Evaluation, in collaboration with the Directorate of Communication, convened communication focal points from ECOWAS Directorates, Agencies, and Institutions for a two-day meeting in Abuja, Nigeria.

This preparatory meeting aimed to establish consensus on primary targets, methodologies, activities, and the development of messages and communication tools as part of a visibility campaign across Member States.

The vision statement of ECOWAS Vision 2050 articulates: “A fully integrated Community of peoples, living in a peaceful and prosperous region, with strong institutions and respect for fundamental rights and freedoms, striving for inclusive and sustainable development.”

Analysts assert that the ECOWAS Vision 2050 is essential for the region to establish a new medium-term strategic plan that addresses current development dynamics.

Entitled “ECOWAS of the Peoples: Peace and Prosperity for All,” Vision 2050 is built on five key pillars, each with specific objectives and directions: peace, security, and stability; governance and rule of law; economic integration; transformation; inclusive and sustainable development; and social inclusion.
