5G Service launch set for November 1, 2024, Communications Minister announces
The Minister of Communications and Digitalisation, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, has announced that the rollout of 5G service is set to begin on November 1, 2024.
In an interview with an Accra-based FM station, the Minister stated that all necessary preparations have been made for the launch.
The government had previously indicated that 5G services would be introduced by the end of this year.
5G, known as the Fifth Generation of Wireless Technology, promises faster internet speeds, improved upload and download capabilities, more reliable connections, and greater capacity.
In earlier discussions, Mrs. Owusu-Ekuful mentioned that the government has partnered with seven industry players to create a shared infrastructure for 5G services. This initiative aims to provide affordable, high-speed mobile broadband across Ghana, enabling citizens to access digital services in healthcare, education, and finance more efficiently.
