British rapper and online personality Yung Filly, whose real name is Andres Felipe Valencia Barrientos, has been charged with rape allegations in Australia.

Known for his work with the YouTube collective Beta Squad and his presenting roles on BBC Three, Barrientos was arrested in Brisbane on Tuesday before being extradited to Perth for a court hearing the following day.

On Thursday, the 29-year-old was formally charged and granted bail. His representatives have yet to comment on the case.

Barrientos faces multiple charges, including four counts of sexual penetration without consent, three counts of assault occasioning bodily harm, and one count of impeding a person’s breathing or circulation by applying pressure to the neck.

The allegations stem from an incident on September 28, during which Barrientos is accused of bringing a woman in her 20s back to his hotel room after performing at Perth’s Bar120 nightclub.

Barrientos was represented in Perth Magistrates Court by barrister Seamus Rafferty SC, who applied for bail on his behalf.

Barrientos, in Australia for a music tour, is also a familiar face in the UK, having appeared on ITV’s Soccer Aid and Channel 4’s The Great Celebrity Bake Off for Stand Up To Cancer.

He won the MOBO Award for Best Media Personality in 2021.
