Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Running Mate, stated that the party plans to use its eighth position on the ballot to combat the corruption that has taken hold under the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government.
In a statement released by Mr. James Agyenim-Boateng, spokesperson for the NDC Running Mate, it was noted that Prof. Opoku-Agyemang made this announcement during her address to NDC supporters at Ayinase in the Ellembelle Constituency, part of her three-day campaign tour in the Western Region.
She encouraged citizens to seize the chance on Election Day to alleviate hunger, suffering, poverty, and high unemployment in the country.
“The Women’s Development Bank is on the way, the National Apprenticeship Programme is coming, and the NDC will introduce the Big Push to create jobs,” she asserted.
Prof. Opoku-Agyemang reflected on the NDC’s previous tenure, noting that the quality of education was high, and all secondary school students were able to attend school simultaneously, with a clear academic calendar.
She criticized the current government, stating that despite its claims, secondary education has become increasingly expensive, placing a heavier financial burden on parents and guardians.
She called for a reset in Ghana, urging voters to support NDC’s John Dramani Mahama in the Presidential Election on December 7, 2024, to rectify the issues created by the current administration.
“Ghana has been mismanaged by the NPP government, which has defaulted on loan repayments. It will require Mr. Mahama’s experience and diligence to guide Ghana out of this turmoil,” Prof. Opoku-Agyemang emphasized.
She described Mr. Mahama as a hardworking and trusted leader with a proven track record, highlighting his contributions to building schools, markets, hospitals, roads, and other essential infrastructure during his previous leadership. She expressed confidence that he would achieve similar results if elected again.
