The Parliamentary Candidate for Takoradi who is running on the ticket of National Democratic Congress (NDC), Lawyer Fredrick F. Faidoo has revealed his plans for the constituents of Takoradi in the build to the 2024 elections.
This has made them decide to vote for change in the upcoming 2024 general elections.
Speaking in an interview with Arafat Musah, the host of the Western Echo morning show on Beach on Wednesday, October 2, 2024, Lawyer Faidoo said the constituents of Takoradi say they are going to vote for change since they have been for one person for over 16 to 20 years but have not seen any development that has sprung up to better their lives.
“The people of Takoradi have decided that this the time for change, at least they cannot be toeing one way all the time. They have decided that this time around they one person who will bring up new ideas. After all there is no monopoly of knowledge or wisdom vested in anyone person. There are a lot of people in Takoradi who have the potential and capability that is better than those that we know.
“And after having had the experience with one person for over 16 to 20 years, they have decided that they want someone who can do better. When I go round, everybody is saying that you are the right one. They want someone who will come and lift us from our burdens and take us to the promise land and I’m ready to do that.” He said assertively.
He further talked about how he will ensure that his leadership is known for accountability and transparency, unlike the current Member of Parliament. He said that accountability and transparency is the right of the people, not something that they should demand because they have earned it, the moment they gave you the mandate to represent them in parliament.
“I plan that at the end of 3 every month, I will come to one electoral area and tell them what I have done or still doing for the constituency. That’s the kind of transparency I will do. I will come and account to them because I’m their representative. I think this will help me know exactly what the people want. I’m going to bring the policy of full accountability, responsibility, and representation.” He assured.
Lawyer Faidoo went on to talk about the plans he has for the constituents of Takoradi which he said comprise job employment creation, developmental projects, and others that will better their lives. This he said as his sure words, should they invest in the mandate to represent them in parliament.
“I’m going to fight for the upliftment of my people in Takoradi and I will ensure that 90 percent of workers of any project in Takoradi shall be residents of Takoradi. We will change the name of Takoradi Library to Takoradi Students Resource Center to serve the purpose for which it was built. I’m going to establish 6 fishing boats at New Takoradi for the youth to use it for fishing so they can give some of the proceeds to the old fishermen who are at home and cannot fish now.
I think this way, we can support them since they have no social security to support them in their old age. When I told them about the plans I have for them, it has given them hope.” He said.
He concluded by entreating everyone to come to his campaign launch which is coming off on Sunday, October 6, 2024, to know the plans he has for the people of Takoradi. He also urged them to vote for change by voting for him in the upcoming elections. “I’m bringing on board a form of leadership, a leadership of honesty, integrity and transparency.
I’m a humble person, and I will not let my people down after they have given me the mandate to represent them. If you give me your mandate to go represent the people of Takoradi in parliament to make good laws and bring developmental projects to my people. Let us say now I’m unemployed so them giving me the mandate is them giving me a job to do so I cannot turn my back on them. I will present a leadership of transparency. I will be the MP for all, anybody can approach me.”
“This very Sunday 6th October, I’m launching my campaign and I’m going to talk about these things. There are printouts that we shall share, any questions arising from what I’ve said you can bring it up. My campaign will be open for all people not only NDC people so I’m entreating everybody to come and hear the good plans I have for Takoradi.” He urged.
