LPG Presidential Candidate Kofi Akpaloo Unveils Ambitious Plans for Unemployment Benefits and Youth Empowerment Ahead of 2024 Elections

Percival Kofi Akpaloo, the presidential candidate for the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG), has announced a series of bold initiatives aimed at addressing unemployment and empowering the youth as part of his election manifesto.

During an interview, Akpaloo outlined key policies designed to reduce unemployment, enhance social welfare, and foster competition in the energy sector.

A standout proposal in his manifesto is the introduction of unemployment benefits to support jobless Ghanaians. Akpaloo highlighted that around 1.9 million youth in Ghana are currently unemployed, which he sees as a significant security concern. To combat this, he plans to create a Job Fund to provide financial assistance for innovative ventures led by young people.

“When we come to power, we will establish a Job Fund. Our youth have the vision; I will ensure they receive the necessary funding,” Akpaloo declared, emphasizing his commitment to creating a land of opportunities. He also pledged to protect job security by preventing dismissals when a new political party takes office.

In addition to youth initiatives, Akpaloo promised benefits for the elderly, ensuring they can live with dignity. He also shared plans to restructure Ghana’s energy sector by dismantling the monopoly of the Electricity Company of Ghana into five or six competitive entities to improve service delivery.

Confident in his electoral prospects, Akpaloo stated, “I will win this year’s election. People will recognize my seriousness when I take office.”

He addressed pressing issues like illegal mining, or “galamsey,” proposing to unite operators in a transition to large-scale mining as a more sustainable solution.

As the election campaign intensifies, Akpaloo positions himself as a champion of economic opportunity and social benefits, determined to lead Ghana toward prosperity.
