CODEO deploys 100 observers nationwide to monitor pre-election activities
The Coalition of Domestic Election Observers (CODEO) has deployed 100 Long-Term Observers (LTOs) across all 16 regions of Ghana to monitor the pre-election environment ahead of the December 7, 2024, presidential and parliamentary elections.
These observers will be in the field from October 1 to December 4, 2024.
In a statement released on Wednesday, CODEO highlighted that its observers will assess pre-election activities at the constituency level, focusing on the efforts of key election stakeholders such as the Electoral Commission (EC), the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), the National Peace Council (NPC), security agencies, political parties, traditional and religious leaders, civil society organizations, and the media.
The LTOs will monitor potential incidents including intimidation of political opponents, violence, vote buying, destruction of party paraphernalia, hate speech at rallies, human rights violations, abuse of incumbency, and chiefs engaging in partisan politics.
