GIZ and Solidaridad’s meeting with TVET Service’s Director General, Mr. David Prah, on Monday, September 30, 2024, was a significant step in enhancing technical and vocational education in Ghana.

The discussion centred around the successful implementation of two (2) competency-based training (CBT) programs (building construction technology and biodigester construction technology) in six (6) selected TVET Institutes: Koforidua Technical Institute, Tema Technical Institute, Kumasi Technical Institute, Kpando Technical Institute, Takoradi Technical Institute, and Dakokpa Technical Institute.

The team also mentioned the introduction of Recycling Technology in addition to the earlier two. Moreover, Ms. Michelle Elsesser from GIZ pledged to collaborate with the WEL Division of TVET Service to facilitate industry-based Workplace Experience Learning for TVET learners from these institutes. Other members of the delegation included: Robert Danful (GIZ), Nickolas Issakah, Emmanuel Klutse, and Malisa (Solidaridad).

Mr. David Prah appreciated the support of Solidaridad and Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) and emphasized the need for periodic capacity-building programs for TVET Instructors to ensure the success of these programs. He also assured GIZ of further collaborative efforts to promote technical education.

This partnership aligns with GIZ’s global initiatives in technical and vocational education and training (TVET), focusing on developing countries. TVET is crucial for sustainable economic development, contributing to achieving the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
