Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh urges Ashanti Region voters to reject NDC
Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, Vice Presidential Candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has cautioned voters in the Ashanti Region against supporting the National Democratic Congress (NDC), claiming the party lacks genuine commitment to the region’s development.
Speaking at a rally in Tweapeasi within the Odotobiri Constituency, Dr. Prempeh, also known as ‘Napo,’ emphasized that casting a vote for the NDC would be a wasted effort, as the party historically neglects the Ashanti Region’s needs whenever in power.
“We vote in elections for development,” Dr. Prempeh explained. “If you cast your vote for a political party that does not prioritize your progress, then you have wasted that vote.”
He further criticized the NDC’s alleged discriminatory policies, pointing to the introduction of capitation for the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) in the Ashanti Region during the NDC’s rule, which he described as a deliberate attempt to punish the region. Napo also referenced past comments from former President John Mahama, accusing the NDC of disregarding the region’s development needs.
“The NDC is not committed to the proper development of the Ashanti Region,” Dr. Prempeh declared during a rally in Tweapeasi, within the Odotobiri Constituency, on Tuesday.
“The number of votes that the NDC obtains from the Ashanti Region during elections is very huge, yet the NDC still consider Ashanti as a region that doesn’t support them.
“The progress of the country, notably the Ashanti Region, always comes to a standstill whenever the NDC occupies the seat of government and I think it’s deliberate”, Dr. Opoku Prempeh fumed.
“But immediately the NDC assumed the mantle of leadership, they fiendishly introduced capitation for NHIS only in the Ashanti Region just to create hardship for the innocent people”.
“This is deliberate because clearly you can see that the NDC and their leaders have something against the people of the Ashanti Region. We should, therefore, reject the NDC on December 7”, he advised.
Napo urged voters to reject the NDC in the upcoming elections, arguing that only the NPP has the region’s best interests at heart.
