Hassan Ayariga pledges to implement price controls to enhance local production
Hassan Ayariga, the presidential candidate for the All People’s Congress (APC), has revealed his plans to implement price control measures aimed at transforming consumption patterns in Ghana if he wins the presidency on December 7, 2024.
In an exclusive interview with the media today, September 24, 2024, Ayariga highlighted the importance of increasing the production and consumption of local products.
“We have some of the finest food in this country,” he stated. “Our purple rice is known worldwide, yet we still import basmati and other rice varieties. Likewise, our palm oil is exceptional, and we can produce coconut oil locally, which would reduce our reliance on imports.”
“These products are highly sought after globally, but we aren’t marketing them effectively.”
Ayariga also voiced his concerns about environmental pollution and the dangers of imported artificial food products. Drawing from his experiences in China, where he observed the production of synthetic eggs, he pledged to limit foreign land ownership and reform passport policies if elected.
As president, Ayariga intends to focus on enacting policies rather than making empty promises. “With the right policies in place over the next two to three years, Ghana can evolve into a robust institution, making the presidency largely ceremonial,” he asserted.
Ayariga, who founded the APC, previously ran for president in the 2012 election as the candidate for the People’s National Convention.
