CETAG set to resume strike over unpaid allowances

The Colleges of Education Teachers Association of Ghana (CETAG) is preparing to launch another strike next week, following the recent conclusion of a nearly two-month industrial action.
The move comes in response to the government’s failure to meet agreed commitments regarding their allowances.
Dominic Owusu, CETAG’s spokesperson, expressed the association’s frustration, highlighting that despite government assurances, the promised allowances have not been paid.
He stated that the upcoming strike is aimed at prompting constructive dialogue and securing a satisfactory resolution to their grievances.
Owusu explained that the timeline agreed upon to resolve the issue has not been adhered to. Promises were made that by the first week of September, members would have access to their updated migration and biodata information. However, this data remains unavailable.
Additionally, the government had assured CETAG that compensation for work done in 2022 would be paid by the end of August, but as of now, no payments have been made.
With continued delays, CETAG has warned that if no action is taken by the end of the week, they will proceed with a full-scale strike.
