Bawumia reaffirms commitment to eradicating ghost names from government payroll
Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has reiterated his dedication to addressing the issue of ghost names on the government payroll.
Speaking during a tour in Bawjiase, Awutu Senya West constituency, Dr. Bawumia emphasized the ongoing efforts to scrutinize the payroll database and prevent unauthorized individuals from accessing government resources.
He highlighted the success of the government’s digitalization agenda in combating corruption, referencing the removal of ghost names from the SSNIT and National Service Scheme payrolls.
He noted that through the Ghana Card, 29,000 ghost names were identified on the SSNIT payroll, saving 400,000 cedis, and 44,000 ghost personnel were removed from the National Service Scheme, saving over 300 million cedis.
Dr. Bawumia assured that his administration remains committed to maintaining a corruption-free payroll system, asserting that the Ghana Card has played a pivotal role in this achievement.
