Electoral Commission Disqualifies Key Presidential Aspirants Ahead of December 2024 Elections

Ghana’s Electoral Commission (EC) has disqualified Mr. Bernard Mornah, the presidential aspirant from the People’s National Convention (PNC), along with Janet Nabla of the People’s National Party (PNP), from participating in the December 7, 2024, presidential elections.

Other candidates disqualified by the EC include Nana Stephens Adjepong, Paul Perkoh, James Kwesi Oppong, John Enyonam Kwakwu Kpikpi, Dr. Samuel Sampong Ankrah, and Nii Amu Darko. Additionally, Samuel Apea-Danquah, Desmond Abrefah, and Kofi Asamoah Siaw from the Progressive People’s Party were also ruled out.

The EC made this announcement in a communiqué released on Friday, September 20, 2024.

“Following the nomination period from September 9 to September 13, 2024, the EC thoroughly reviewed the submitted forms to ensure they met legal requirements,” the communiqué stated.

The EC confirmed that out of the 24 candidates who filed their nominations, 13 have completed the process and are eligible to run in the upcoming election.

8.            Akua Donkor      – Ghana Freedom Party

9.            Hassan Abdulai Ayariga – All People’s Congress

10.          Kofi Akpaloo     –  Liberal Party of Ghana

11.          Mohammed Frimpong  – National Democratic Party

12.          Nana Akosua Frimpomaa             – Convention People’s Party

13.          Kofi Koranteng  – Independent Candidate
