Effia Kwesimintsim Health Directorate to begin registration for insecticide nets

Effia Kwesimintsim Municipal Health Directorate is set to register households within the district to pave the way for the distribution of long-lasting insecticide-treated nets (LLINs) aimed at eradicating malaria in the Region.

The registration exercise, which is scheduled for today, Friday, September 20, 2024, will end on Tuesday, September 27.

Mrs Joyce K. Bagina, Municipal Health Director during a media briefing disclosed that the distribution of the LLIN would start from November 7 to 11, 2024.

“We are beginning a registration of households for the distribution of long-lasting insecticide-treated mosquito nets. We know the benefits of the nets; as it protects us from mosquito bites which result in malaria. We wish to let everyone to be part of this exercise.

She underscored the importance of the exercise whilst urging stakeholders to support the directorate to ensure its success. Madam Bagina stressed that the best way to protect individuals and families from malaria is to encourage them to sleep under mosquito nets.

She emphasised that the number of households counted would determine the number of nets that would bring to the region.

” If you are not captured during the exercise, you will not benefit from the distribution of the nets. The numbers registered would determine how many households are going to benefit. The distribution of the nets would begin in November, “

Our registration assistants would move from house -to -house to take the registration. You can prompt the nearest health centre, in case you are not registered.”

Therefore, Mrs Bagina urged individuals to avail themselves to be counted and eliminate malaria in the region.
