The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration has requested that all passport applicants who paid for their applications before April 1, 2024, but have not yet had their biometric details captured, visit their chosen Passport Application Centres (PACS) to complete the application process.
In a recent statement, the Ministry noted that passport applications submitted before April 1, 2024, with payment options of One Hundred Ghana Cedis (GH¢100.00) and One Hundred and Fifty Ghana Cedis (GH¢150.00) will no longer be valid after October 18, 2024.
“The Ministry appreciates the cooperation of passport applicants in this important undertaking,” they said.
On April 1, 2024, the Ministry revised passport application fees to 500 cedis for the 32-page booklet and 644 cedis for the 48-page booklet under standard service. For expedited service, the fees are 700 cedis for the 32-page booklet and 800 cedis for the 48-page booklet.
Minister Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey explained that the fee increase is not intended to burden Ghanaians, as some have speculated, but to enhance the quality of service provided.
She emphasized that the previous fee of 8 dollars for a Ghanaian passport was the lowest in the subregion and was impacting the passport office's operations.
