John Dramani Mahama, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has committed to establishing a cocoa processing facility in Kukuom, located in the Asunafo South District of the Ahafo Region.

During a campaign visit, Mahama reiterated his focus on addressing youth unemployment and fostering regional development across the nation.

As part of his broader industrialization strategy, the proposed cocoa processing plant is integral to his 24-hour economy policy.

This policy envisions a continuously operating economy that boosts productivity, enhances access to goods and services, and generates employment, particularly for the youth.

Mahama’s plan aims to leverage Ghana’s growing population by promoting sectors like manufacturing, processing, logistics, and services to function around the clock, creating more jobs and shifts for the workforce.

The cocoa facility in Kukuom would play a crucial role in advancing regional industrial hubs, particularly in areas with strong agricultural outputs.

This initiative also seeks to reduce the export of raw cocoa by focusing on local processing, driving economic transformation through industrial growth.
