President Akufo-Addo terminates appointment of Dodzie Numekevor as Director General of NSA

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has dismissed Dodzie Numekevor from his position as director general of the National Sports Authority (NSA). According to sources at Jubilee House in Accra, the decision is effective immediately.

The president’s move comes in response to concerns regarding the deteriorating condition of the country’s football pitches.

The termination letter, dated September 17, 2024, and signed by Nana Badiatuo Asante, Secretary to the President, states: “I am directed by the President of the Republic to inform you that your appointment as the Director-General of the National Sports Authority has been terminated effective immediately.”

“You are instructed to hand over your office to the chairman of the Governing Board of the Authority, who is also copied on this letter. Please ensure the handover is completed and that you cease to act as the Director-General no later than the close of business on September 17, 2024. The President thanks you for your service to the nation and extends his best wishes,” the letter continues.

Dr. Dodzie Numekevor was appointed as interim director general of the National Sports Authority on February 26, 2024, after the departure of Professor Peter Twumasi, who held the position for six years.
