NABCO trainees appeal to National Peace Council Over unpaid allowances
The Coalition of NABCO Trainees has made an urgent plea to the National Peace Council, seeking its intervention in resolving the ongoing issue of unpaid allowance arrears that has affected trainees since 2021.
Representing thousands of disheartened individuals, the coalition has expressed grave concerns over the prolonged delays and issued a stern warning about the potential consequences.
The coalition announced plans for a large-scale demonstration at the forecourt of Jubilee House, to be staged a week before the upcoming elections, should the arrears issue remain unresolved.
They believe that the involvement of the National Peace Council could help avert further escalation.
In a formal petition addressed to the National Peace Council, the coalition highlighted the severe impact of the unpaid allowances on their livelihoods and its broader implications for national security and stability.
Despite numerous petitions to the President’s office and relevant ministries, the issue remains unaddressed, prompting the trainees to intensify their efforts.
The coalition stressed the vital role of the Peace Council in maintaining a peaceful environment during the election period and urged the council to engage with the President to expedite the settlement of the arrears.
They noted that patience among trainees is running thin, making immediate government action crucial to prevent unrest.
Signed by key representatives including David Peterson, Nana Tachie Eric, Deborah Enam Sogbey, and Nana Berimah Asamoah, the petition conveyed hope that the Peace Council’s involvement would help preserve national security and contribute to a peaceful election.
The call to action underscores the urgency of the matter and the need for prompt resolution to prevent disruptions during this critical time.
