The Member of Parliament for the Ellembelle Constituency, Emmanuel Armah Kofi Buah, believes the Electoral Commission is scheming with the governing NPP to disrupt the upcoming 2024 elections.
According to him, calls by the NDC for a forensic audit of the voter register are not a novelty, and as such the EC should pay heed to the party’s call.
Speaking to Beach Newsroom in Takoradi, the legislator underscored the need for a credible voter register for peaceful, fair and credible elections.
The NDC staged a nationwide demonstration “dubbed” Enough is Enough to vent its displeasure against the Electoral Commission on various discrepancies observed in the Ghana voter register.
” This walk is to basically inform the Electoral Commission that enough of the excuses, enough of the scheming and the attempts to collude with the NPP. This is for the stability of our country. We came to tell the EC, as they have agreed, that the register is unfit for purpose, and we need to fix it.
And to do it, we need an independent audit of the register, we have done it before and there is nothing to be afraid of. We want the EC to understand clearly the Constitution gives them the power and independence, they are not the appendage of the NPP. We know they’ve thrown a lot of the NPP appointees there, “Mr. stated.
However, Mr. Armah Kofi Buah remains optimistic that the Electoral Commission will accept with good heart the petition of concerns of the NDC.
He said, ” We hope that by the end of the day, the EC will see the massive rise of the people of Ghana and the message they have. Their responsibility cannot be joked with.”
