The Ghana Police Service (GPS) has called on the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to strictly adhere to the outlined arrangements for their upcoming nationwide protest against the Electoral Commission (EC), scheduled for Tuesday, September 17, 2024.

The police also emphasized the importance of complying with all laws and regulations governing public demonstrations.

Addressing a press conference in Accra, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Grace Ansah-Akrofi, Director of Public Affairs, reminded the NDC of its responsibility to ensure the protest is conducted lawfully.

She noted that the organizers have been informed that they will be held accountable for any violations or damage caused during the event.

ACP Ansah-Akrofi highlighted that the routes for the protest in all 16 regions have been communicated to the organizers.

She also referenced Section 3 of the Public Order Act, 1994 (Act 491), which outlines the responsibilities of organizers, including liability for damage to public property and the need for participants to follow police directives to maintain order and avoid disruption.

The Police Service urged both the organizers and participants to comply fully with the agreed arrangements and ensure a peaceful demonstration.
