Felmer Foundation LBG, a non-governmental Organisation, has donated over 50 pieces of school uniforms to pupils of Ampatano M/A basic school in the Ahanta West Municipality of the Western Region.
The items including shoes, belts and socks
The move is to improve and promote quality education, especially in the community in the region.
Prince Miezah Pobley, the secretary for the group, disclosed that the idea was to support the needy pupils in deprived communities to boost their morale and confidence to go to school and learn.
According to him, supporting schoolchildren would enhance their learning which has a potential to develop the human resource of the area and Ghana as a whole.
“Education is the key to driving our nation, hence if we can help our little ones through the little things we can for them to be in school. Looking at the community, it is closer to the sea so most of the children here at the end of the day will be at the seaside instead of going to school, so this donation of the uniforms will encourage them to be in school.” He said.
The Headmaster of the school, Mr. Francis Ackah was overwhelmed with gratitude for the generous donation, adding that it would boost the academic confidence of the students.
“We thank the foundation for caring for us today, giving our pupils free uniforms, socks and shoes and making them nicer, This is a deprived area, a fishing community which is Ampatano so children come to school with torned school uniforms and some even come to the school without uniforms, they only wear house dress to come to school so getting a new uniform is going to boost their academic confidence,” He added.
