Ampatano M/A Basic School Appeals For Infrastructural Support
The unavailability of basic infrastructure at the Ampatano M/A Basic School in the Ahanta West District negatively impacts teaching and learning.
Despite providing basic education to children in Ampatano and surrounding communities over the years, the school still lacks necessities such as classroom blocks, a staff office, and an ICT centre, which are needed to aid effective teaching and learning.
This revelation was made known when the Felmer Foundation LGB donated school uniforms and footwear, amongst other items, to the school.
The Headmaster, Mr. Prince Ackah said currently, the management is using churches around to accommodate over 200 students.
According to him, whenever it rains, they have to close early unless it drizzles, which he says is negatively impacting learning and punctuality.
It is against these challenges, Mr. Ackah is seeking the help of the government and other stakeholders to come to the aid of the school.
” Ampatano M/A Basic School has a challenge, we have pollution and the people are over 200 and we don’t have the infrastructure. Currently, we are using churches around, we have Pentecost, CAC and Roman, these are the churches that we using to manage the school for now,”
We only have a KG block and it’s not in good shape so it’s also our prayer for the Foundation to also help us to put up a nice KG and Primary block. The community is putting up a three-unit pavilion and we also need help from the foundation.
We have stopped learning when it rains because when it rains our offices and all the classrooms leak, ” He lamented.
The Secretary of the Felmer Foundation LGB, Prince Miezah Pobley expressed its commitment to help the school in that regard.
He appealed to the government, philanthropists and individuals to also help deprived communities and schools with similar challenges to improve education in the country.
