EC to Release Polling Station Results Online for First Time in 2024 Elections

The Electoral Commission (EC) has announced that, for the first time in the 2024 elections, it will publish polling station results on its website to improve transparency.

Dr. Bossman Asare, Deputy Chairperson of the EC, shared this development, emphasizing the commission’s commitment to this new measure.

“We will ensure that polling station results are posted on our website well before any legal actions might be considered. This will provide the public and stakeholders with the opportunity to verify the results directly,” Dr. Asare stated.

This announcement came during a discussion on Joy News on Sunday, September 15, 2024, where Dr. Asare responded to the call by Dr. Mohamed Ibn Chambas, the African Union High Representative for Silencing the Guns, for the EC to strengthen trust among stakeholders ahead of the elections.

Dr. Chambas highlighted that making the results available online would significantly enhance the credibility and transparency of the electoral process.

Dr. Asare added that results would be uploaded only after all polling station data has been collected.

“As this is our first time implementing this, we will ensure that all results are finalized before making them available,” he explained.
