Salam Mustapha warns against re-electing Mahama, describes their leadership as harmful for Ghana’s future
The Youth Wing of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has strongly opposed the potential re-election of former President John Mahama and his running mate, Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, labeling their previous leadership as detrimental to the nation.
During a press conference in the Upper East Region, NPP National Youth Organizer Salam Mustapha criticized their policies, claiming they had a negative impact on Ghana’s youth.
Mustapha specifically mentioned the cancellation of the teacher trainee allowance during their administration as an example of poor governance, and highlighted Mahama’s electoral defeats in 2016 and subsequent elections as evidence of the public’s rejection of his leadership.
He pointed to issues like the power crisis (“dumsor”) under Mahama’s presidency, stating that despite resources, the country faced significant challenges.
He also took aim at Prof. Opoku-Agyemang, criticizing her role as Minister for Education, particularly her involvement in policies such as the three-month pay system for teachers and the cancellation of teacher training allowances.
In conclusion, Mustapha urged the youth not to support Mahama and Opoku-Agyemang in the upcoming elections, claiming their return would bring further hardship to the country.
