NDC demands removal of Pius Hadzide as NYA CEO over controversial World Cup travel promise

Pius Hadzide, NPP PC for Asuogyaman, has promised his constituents to elect him if they want to travel to USA for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) is calling for the dismissal of Pius Enam Hadzide, the CEO of the National Youth Authority (NYA), following his promise to facilitate youth travel to the 2026 World Cup in the United States if elected as the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) parliamentary candidate for Asuogyaman.

The NDC has criticized Hadzide’s statement, citing his involvement in the 2017 Australian Visa scandal, where several Ghanaians allegedly posed as journalists to attend the Commonwealth Games. Although Hadzide was suspended and later cleared, the NDC insists his past actions disqualify him from public office.

Speaking at a rally in Asuogyaman, Malik Basintale, the NDC’s Deputy National Communication Officer, demanded Hadzide’s immediate dismissal and prosecution. He also urged President Nana Akufo-Addo to take action, accusing the government of fostering corruption.

“We know that this declaration will be a mission impossible because Pius Enam Hadzide is not learning for himself, he is learning from his boss ‘the chief mother serpent of corruption’, Akufo-Addo and the ‘Chief Liar’ Bawumia.”

“We are calling for the immediate dismissal of Pius Enam Hadzide as the CEO of the National Youth Authority. He has clearly admitted that he was guilty in the Australian Visa scandal.

“We are calling for his immediate dismissal and not just he should be dismissed, his immediate prosecution should commence.”
