Eshiem Residents Express Worry Over Poor , Dusty Road
Residents of Eshiem, a suburb in the Sekondi – Takoradi Metropolis in the Western Region, have expressed dissatisfaction over the poor nature of roads in the vicinity.
According to them, the untarred road network is dusty, thus making it seemingly impossible to ply the road.
Speaking in an interview with Beach Newsroom, some of the residents say heavy tipper trucks playing the road frequently keep the situation worsening, leaving them with respiratory diseases such as cough, catarrh and others.
“The dust is killing us. My sister got admitted to the hospital just last week because she was coughing and blood was oozing out of her nose. So we are pleading with authorities to do something about the road for us.”
Apart from this, provision shop operators have to deal with heavy dust deposits on wares and goods and sometimes incur losses due to the road.
Master Kojo, a provision operator said, “The dust emanating from the road is destroying the products that I sell. The dust makes it look older than it is so customers refuse to buy my products.
The dust again is a threat to my health.”
Motorists and residents are pleading with authorities to sprinkle water on the road from time to time to save them from any ill- health and other inconveniences.
“The road is dusty and they are not watering it too. We are suffering from respiratory diseases so we urged the authorities to come and do the needful,”
” The dust from the road is a risk to our health and that of our children. We are pleading with authorities to come and properly construct the road for us, knowing that, this year is an election year,”
Some of the residents, said,” Nothing shows that they are coming to construct the road. They are just filling the potholes for easy accessibility of vehicles.”
“Short distance has now become long due to the road’s bad conditions, so we are pleading with authorities to quickly fix it for us,”
