Ghana’s 1-0 loss to Angola in a 2025 AFCON qualifier at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi sparked violent reactions from frustrated fans.
The defeat marked the end of Ghana’s 24-year unbeaten streak at the stadium.
Throughout the match, Black Stars supporters grew increasingly restless as the team struggled to generate clear scoring chances on a poor-quality pitch.
Angola’s Felicio Milson scored in added time, securing Angola’s first victory in Group F, which also includes Sudan and Niger. Sudan beat Niger 1-0 in a separate Group F match.
After Milson’s late goal, angry fans hurled plastic bottles onto the field, with some breaching the stadium’s inner perimeter and damaging pitch panels. Earlier, a group of fans had forced their way into the Baba Yara sports stadium by breaking through a gate at the T.I. Ahmadiyya end.
Ghana will face Niger next on Monday, September 9 in Morocco at 15:00 GMT.
