Shamima Muslim, the spokesperson for the NDC Manifesto Committee on Gender, Social Protection, and Inclusion, outlined the party’s commitment to advancing gender equality and social protection.
She emphasized the party’s plan to implement the affirmative action bill and amend existing laws to ensure that mothers who experience stillbirths or undergo Caesarean sections receive four months of maternity leave.
Muslim also highlighted the party’s proposal to establish sixteen survival shelters across the country, one in each region, to support victims of rape and violence, given the current shortage of such facilities.
Furthermore, the NDC aims to enhance the Gender Ministry and expand social protection systems, including the school feeding program, the National Health Insurance Scheme, labour-intensive public works, and the free Senior High School policy.
In addition, the party has pledged to promptly support individuals with disabilities, reinvigorate inter-school sports competitions to discover new talent, and tackle issues such as streetism, child marriage, and abuse in schools.
