GH¢50 million relief secured for Ghanaian Students abroad
The Ghana Scholarship Secretariat has announced a significant development for Ghanaian students studying abroad, with the anticipated release of GH¢50 million in funds.
This comes as a relief to students who have been facing difficulties due to unpaid stipends and tuition fees.
Richard Gyamfi, Head of International Relations and Partnerships at the Secretariat, revealed that the Ministry of Finance has indicated the release of some funds, although the amount is less than what is required.
Gyamfi noted that the Secretariat has completed all necessary paperwork to ensure the funds are transferred to the Ghana International Bank, which will then facilitate payments through the Ghanaian Embassy.
He emphasized that the Secretariat has been actively addressing the issue, engaging in numerous discussions with international partners and taking non-traditional steps to secure the funds.
Although the GH¢50 million will not cover all outstanding tuition and stipends, the Secretariat plans to prioritize tuition payments to prevent students from being expelled from their programs.
