Dame urges global unity in tackling cross-border economic crimes
The Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Godfred Yeboah Dame, has urged leading international figures in the fight against cross-border economic and financial crimes to intensify cooperative efforts to address this escalating global challenge.
Dame emphasized that the global community’s survival hinges on the effectiveness of collaboration among justice partners in combating international crime.
He delivered this message during a keynote address at the 41st Cambridge International Symposium on Economic Crime, held at Jesus College, University of Cambridge, United Kingdom.
Highlighting Ghana’s proactive approach, he noted that significant institutional reforms have been implemented to build a robust legal framework aimed at tracing criminals’ assets and ensuring that they do not benefit from their illicit activities.
He cited the Economic and Organised Crimes Office Act of 2011, which established the Economic and Organised Crimes Office (EOCO) to prevent and detect organized crime and facilitate the confiscation of criminal proceeds.
