Suhum MP, Kwadwo Asante to run as independent candidate after losing NPP primary

Kwadwo Asante, popularly known as Boafo, the current MP for Suhum, has announced his decision to run as an independent candidate in the polls.

Kwadwo Asante, popularly known as Boafo, the current Member of Parliament for Suhum, has announced his decision to run as an independent candidate in the upcoming elections.

This follows his defeat in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary primary to Frank Asiedu Bekoe, also known as Protozoa.

Despite his loss, Boafo received overwhelming support from many NPP members in the constituency, urging him to contest independently.

In response, top NPP officials, including Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and Agriculture Minister Bryan Acheampong, made efforts to dissuade him from running as an independent candidate.

However, on Sunday, September 1, Boafo put an end to the speculation by officially declaring his intention to contest the seat independently.

Speaking to a large crowd of supporters after a health walk at the Suhum Amponsah Market, Kwadwo Asante explained that his decision was driven by the call of his constituents to continue his developmental projects in the area.
