GES commences 2024 school selection process for BECE candidates

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has initiated the 2024 school selection process for candidates who sat for the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).
The process, which began on Thursday, August 28, will run until September 4, 2024.
In a statement issued by Mr. Prince Agyemang-Duah, Acting Director of the Schools and Instruction Division, parents and guardians are urged to take an active role in the selection process to ensure a smooth placement for their children.
This year, a total of 570,461 BECE candidates will have the opportunity to choose from various Senior High Schools and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions. Candidates can also opt for STEM subjects, such as biomedical science, engineering science, and agriculture.
To maintain transparency and adherence to guidelines, GES headquarters officials will supervise the nationwide selection exercise. Regional Directors of Education have been directed to notify stakeholders of the selection process dates.
In a new feature, candidates will be able to confirm their school choices via a text message short code, with details to be provided later. Two phone lines have been made available to assist parents, students, and stakeholders with any challenges during the selection process.
